Phone triage
You call (252) 589-3804 and describe what you're seeing: shocks, flickering, a buzzing panel, or a home inspection report. We ask three or four questions to figure out whether this is an emergency grounding repair Rocky Mount situation or a scheduled visit. Most calls get a same-day window, and we tell you the arrival range up front.
02
On-site testing
Our electrician starts at the panel with a multimeter and clamp meter, then works outward. We check the ground bar, the grounding electrode conductor, the rod or UFER connection, and every bonding jumper we can reach. A Fluke insulation resistance tester confirms whether damaged cable is leaking to ground. This phase runs 30 to 60 minutes on a typical house.
03
Written findings
Before any repair, you get a plain-language rundown: what failed, why it failed, and what it takes to correct it. If the fix is a $180 lug re-torque, we say so. If the meter base is damaged and needs replacement, we show you the corrosion and quote the full job. No pressure, no upsell script.
04
The repair
We pull the permit when Rocky Mount requires one, then do the work: new grounding rod driven to depth, THHN or bare copper conductor sized to NEC Table 250.66, bonding jumpers on water and gas lines, and any damaged Romex NM-B or conduit replaced. Most residential grounding repairs take two to four hours.
05
Verification and cleanup
We re-test resistance at the rod, check voltage from hot to ground at multiple receptacles, and trip every GFCI and AFCI we touched. You get photos of the finished work and a written summary. If anything reads outside spec, we fix it before we leave. The site is swept and the panel cover is back on.
